bridge mission

there was a major traffic problem on this bridge that crosses the tigris river, and the IPs (iraqi police) had MUCH bigger things to deal with (other than directing traffic), so we tried to help by putting down over 200 barriers to keep people from driving the wrong way, causing accidents, and making the traffic jams worse. this was also a prime opportunity to meet some of the locals and improve relations. the mission was supposed to last a few days, but it stretched over a span of weeks due to the heavy flow of traffic and increased security risks at the time. (and hey- that's my truck on the left! )
